In 2004, KLG helped Credit Suisse First Boston select Raleigh-Durham,
North Carolina as the site for its new Global Business Center
to serve as a major hub for the firm's Applications Development, Securities Operations,
and Data Center activities. Following two years of successful operation, in 2006 KLG assisted Credit Suisse to plan additional expansion including doubling employment at the site and adding a major state-of-the-art datacenter.
Establishment of Credit Suisse Global Business Center, 2004
The new Center is initially planned to accommodate a workforce
of approx. 400, and is pre-designed to easily expand and
accommodate a much larger presence in the future. It will
provide savings of more than 30% relative to CSFB’s
current locations. As part of the project, KLG secured commitments
for state and local incentives worth approximately $22 million
for CSFB, significantly offsetting the costs required to
establish the new Center.
CSFB retained KLG to identify a new location that could
satisfy its demanding needs for a top quality workforce.
Especially critical was access to world-class software development
talent and educational research institutions. At the same
time, CSFB required a cost structure that would significantly
reduce its compensation and real estate costs.
CSFB selected Raleigh-Durham, NC from among a large number
of viable locations identified during a preliminary search
that considered possible options worldwide. Raleigh-Durham
is renowned for the presence of many of the world’s
top technology employers and is home to a number of top-tier
institutes of higher learning. Additionally, because of
the concentration of high-tech companies in the area, it
offers proximity to many of the companies that CSFB relies
on regularly to provide it with state-of-the-art information
technology capabilities; creating the opportunity for greater
synergies between CSFB and these firms.
In order to project the favorable image and high-quality
work environment necessary to attracting the talent CSFB
requires, the new Center will be located in Raleigh-Durham’s
Research Triangle Park – the premier site in the market.
